Hi guys. Im lazy and hungry and cold as the Arctic but I wanna tell u something.
I came across something interesting the other day, I found out this page (http://ovoespacio.blogspot.com/) created by this girl in Mexico City, my actual city, in which she invited people to come to her kitchen and make art in it. You could apparently make anything you wanted and it would be part of her kitchen and her life for fifteen days in which she would actually live inside the work different artists created. Since I now have a better knowledge of this gigantic city I decided to give it a shot and go check out the latest installation and while on it make some mental measurements and picture how my work could fit inside her egg. As weird as that may actually sound.
The exposition I saw was called 'Blind Spot' (Punto ciego) and was made by Veronica Rojas and was very much alike this piece I once saw at Arte Alameda that almost give me an epileptic seizure. I spoke with Tamara after the show and she told me all pieces would be exposed as part of a collective at her art school sooooo I went to see what had I missed for the past year.
I honestly think the curatorial work was very impressive for such a small and old fashioned space. The school is not the prettiest building i've seen, so I think it becomes quite harder to create an attractive environment to make an art show in such conditions.
I specially liked the work of Dasha Chernyseva, a Rusian girl who managed to build a wooden second floor where you could pin your artwork to become part of the show. I made Rozich. Here's a pic of my contribution to her piece:
Also enjoyed Cynthtia Chong's video of an action she made called 'instructions to cry' (Instrucciones para llorar) in which she sealed the kitchen and cut onions to make people cry while they read Cortazar's text. Kewl people crying. keeeewl. T_T
あああああああnd last but not least Sue Jacome's trading piece, in which she would leave some clothes and shoes and asked people to give her stuff in exchange of taking them. People took everything like in five seconds.
So yeh.. that's that for today's news... and have a good one!
